TariffScout Canada · Legal information
Privacy, in plain language.
How TariffScout handles contact and subscription information. This notice is written for Canadian privacy requirements, including PIPEDA where it applies.
Who we are
TariffScout is an independent Canadian tariff-monitoring service, operated as a sole proprietorship based in New Brunswick, Canada.
Operator: TariffScout — sole proprietorship, New Brunswick, Canada
Privacy contact: info@tariffscout.ca
What we collect
We collect the information you choose to send when you ask for a watch or contact us: your email address, the tariff item or service note you provide, and your message. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment card and billing details are handled by the payment processor; TariffScout does not store full card numbers.
Why we use it
- to set up and deliver the watch, digest, or service response you requested;
- to answer your question, administer your subscription, and keep a basic record of the request;
- to send service messages and, where you have consented, commercial electronic messages about TariffScout.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention and safeguards
We keep contact and subscription records only as long as needed for the purpose above, our legal and accounting duties, and resolving a question or dispute. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information, including limiting access to people who need it for the service.
Service providers
We use service providers to host the site and process payments. They may process information only to provide those services to us. Their own terms and privacy notices may also apply to payment processing.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent (subject to legal or contractual limits), or ask a privacy question by emailing info@tariffscout.ca. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot continue a requested watch or subscription. We will explain any limit on a request.
Email consent and CASL
We send commercial electronic messages only with consent or another basis permitted by Canadian anti-spam law. Each commercial message identifies TariffScout and provides a working unsubscribe method. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time; we will act on that request within the period required by law (and no later than 10 business days). Unsubscribing from marketing does not by itself cancel a paid subscription; cancellation is separate.
Refunds and cancellation
Paid plans begin with a 14-day free trial with no card required. Cancel anytime in one click, with no fee or minimum term. If the first paid month is not worth it, email us within 30 days of the charge for a full refund. For a renewal charge, email within 7 days for a full refund. If a scheduled digest does not go out, that period is refunded in full on request. Refunds return to the original payment method. We aim to answer email within 3 business days and process refund requests within 5 business days.
